For over 15 years - we've built our Farm & Ranch with a central theme and grand vision in mind for what the farm could look like someday:
A VERTICALLY INTEGRATED, REGENERATIVE AND SUSTAINABLE ECOSYSTEM
What's this mean? Well, take a look at the diagram on the right - and we'll go step by step.
(Scroll down to view Step 1)
The first step in building our ecosystem was to grow the land and infrastructure to handle all of the animals - building up our row crop side as well as creating high-quality pasture ground with protein rich grass to allow our animals to thrive.
This also included infrastructure such as:
- Rotational grazing paddocks
- Watering systems
- Cattle and Bison working facilities
- And much more!
Once we had the infrastructure in place, we started working on creating the highest-quality feeding system from our row-crops and lush pasture ground. We figured out the best way to finish out our cattle was to raise them on protein-rich grass pastures, and during the last few months before slaughter, introduce a grain-grass mix to create perfectly and consistently marbled meat that produced the best tasting melt-in-your-mouth eating experience.
The next phase in building our ecosystem was to grow out our herds using premium genetics and continually implement regenerative and sustainable practices. This meant learning all about techniques such as:
- Cover Crops
- Rotational Grazing
- No-till Farming
- Whole Animal Utilization
And many other best practices. The learning curve wasn't (and STILL ISN'T) easy, but we feel a deep obligation to practice techniques that will leave our Farm in a better place than we found it - and be able to keep it operating for generations to come.
We knew to complete our vertically integrated ecosystem, we had to eventually build out our own Meat Processing plant - which was a substantial investment and candidly a scary step that we didn't know if we were ready for.
Pushing through our fears, we decided to take a leap of faith and invest into a state-of-the-art plant, allowing us to finally use animals grown on our farm and fed our feed to be processed and packaged in our own plant!
After learning how to operate a meat plant - we realized to distribute our meats nationwide and authentically be able to tell customers we have our hands in every step to truly create a farm-to-table experience ... we suddenly realized - WE WERE MISSING ONE LAST COMPONENT:
